Headlight assembly replacement

Postby frano » Thu Sep 12, 2013 7:06 am

Help!

Have a lovely Mk 3 RHD but now using here in France. I need to change to LHD headlights to get through the local MOT equivalent-how do you get at the units to change them?>-Is it necessary to remove whole of front valance to do this?

(The headlight beams have been fine at night-no problems lighting up road but not legal!!)

I think you can only use the beam benders for so long, best bet is contact Andrew at Autolink and the like, or check the french, german etc e-bay boards for some one breaking one.

Thanks guys-but already got new LHD Headlight units-just need to know how to fit them-it looks pretty crowded and tight under the bonnet nr the places I need to get at. Local Controle Technique don't accept stickers etc, and I've registered the car here in France so to get through the test (every 2 yrs here after car is 4 yrs old) I need to get the proper LHD lights in place.
Have been told its probably going to mean taking off the whole front of the car-am hoping it isn't the case!!

Consider it a chance to get in there and apply some rust treatment. Never going to do any harm.
