Stripping Black from V Spec Dash

Postby Maccaloon » Tue Jun 16, 2015 9:47 pm

I spoke to Mm on MX5 Owners about stripping the black from the upper dash of a V Spec. Apparently the dash is tan beneath the black paint (which is bubbled, scratched, and tacky) and was curious as to which chemicals/method to use to get the desired result?

Any help/advice/suggestions are much appreciated!

Meths 100% everytime and a shed loads of rags done this loads of times , check ou Paulas build thread Rupert the Mk 1.
It is easy enough to do, like anything it is all down to the prep work before hand.

Thanks. When you say prep, what preparations should I make? I'm not sure I will be repainting the dash, I may leave it all tan.

Hey, that explains a mess I started on my V-special. I tried to clean the black with meths and it went seriously sticky.
Fortunately only in a small test area. Now I know why and also what might be underneath.
