Mk1 dash lights

Dash lights behind Speed and rev dials etc currently come on with headlights. Is there any way to keep them on, at full brightness regardless of headlight use/settings?

Mk1 dash lights

Well if it were me I would first have a long chat with myself and then look for a positive feed behind the instrument binnacle and wire that to the positive on one of the dash lights the rest should light up automatically but you might damage the film behind the binnacle and that could be bad

Should have said make sure the positive feed is ignition wired, or you'll end up with a flat battery!

Sorry i think i am missing something here?....so you want the dash lights on a separate switch so you could even have them on through the day if wished with out the main lights on? .

I was under the impression that OP wanted dash lights on whenever he was driving, some modern cars have that. Trouble is that if your dash lights are on all the time you may forget to switch your lights on when it gets dark

Can i ask why?, what would be the need?,,dark...lights on regardless, it would be like having DRL in side the car, sorry i just don't get why?, everything can be done, you just need to find the main live feed and change it to a permanent live and run it through a switch.

Just take a ignition switched live from somewhere to the back of the instrument light positive feed you only need to do one. Solder is best and be careful as the flexi is easy to melt. Don't ask how I know!
