On all models from 1989 to 2005 the oil dip stick handle breaks,if it has not yet ...it will simply because of age and heat, and just become brittle, if you get a new one, it will just do the same further down the line..

Jass performance do a very nice alloy upgrade to this issue which fixes to the old broken stub and is fixed solid by way of a allen key grub bolt, and with it being made of alloy, it is light, there are others on the market which are glued into place on the broken stub, but are metal covered in a chrome coat which are heavy and vibrate...a lot.

So this is what we should have that Mazda gave us to check our oil with, ( which gets used a lot on the MK 2 1.8)...

But in reality most of us have a yellow stub from the handle hoop broken away...

Remove your dip stick, clean it, Turn the allen key grub nut out on the Jass handle and push the broken stub into the end...

And then just tighten the allen key grub nut back down onto the broken stub to hold it in place, now there is no need to go mad it is not holding an engine in place ...

Very easy upgrade to a annoying problem, which is not expensive, simple and quick to fit and solved for good...
