Additional colour scheme options?

Postby paggers » Mon Aug 12, 2013 5:10 pm

What are the chances of getting a lighter version of the current theme? I prefer the layout to the original version but to be honest after a while of using it I'm starting to find the dark theme a bit depressing. It would be great to have the same layout and functionality but a 'white' version as an alternative to the current 'black' one.

Hi Paggers,

Yes we do have a "light" version of the new layout. There are a few issues that need ironing out but it should be ready towards the end of this week.

I don't see a problem with it to be honest, and is far from depressing to use :confusion-confused: and as been being used for a while if picked, but for those that like a moan or add a opinion? there will be a lighter version to pick from, i personally think it works well, and the old look is still there to pick if wished, but will be dead in a month :handgestures-thumbup:

Why is it that I get a black background themed forum, until I login, then I get a white background themed forum?
Is this what others want? Why can't they have the white background too?

The dark one you mention is now the default look of this forum, but in your personal settings, you are configured to using the old board layout. You can change looks to whatever you like.

The "lite" version mentioned earlier is the same of the dark one you saw, but every dark colour will be white or a lighter colour. This will be online very soon so that users can choose to using a dark or light version.

Coming from the original New Look thread

Now you might be wondering "what new look?? Everythings the same". That's because you need to enable it. Follow these steps:

1. Go to User Control Panel (Right hand corner, not far from Logout button)
2. When that has loaded, select Board Preferences from the left.
3. Then you should see an option called My Board Style, from the drop down, change "Mazda Mender" to "Artodia Black"
4. Hit submit

If you want to change back to the old look (which we will eventually phase out), use the same steps as above, but for step 3, change "Artodia Black" to "Mazda Mender"

The white theme has a different layout. I like the layout but as I spend a fair bit of time on MM I find that I prefer something a bit lighter. It's not a deal breaker, I just wanted to ask if there was an alternative and it sounds like there is one in the pipeline.
