Wiring for a 4 pin led toggle switch

Postby GlennyGills » Tue Jul 23, 2013 9:50 pm

Hi, just about installed the wiring for my new glass window. (New hood courtesy of Jack Smith Trimmer Swansea). I bought a 4 pin red led rocker switch. I got the power to the window, but no led.
The four pins are labelled

Looking at the switch from the rear with the led uppermost.

Earth +

(none) light (?)

Any help?

p's Mm your diagram helped me with the wiring using a relay. Thanks

If there are pins marked + and - then those will be for the LED, the other two will be the switch poles (which might be connected to anything, so +/- doesn't apply)

Turns out that if you number the pins 1,2,3, 4 and pins 1&2 and pins 3&4 are switched.ie Dual pole, single throw. Then to get the led to light on switching, you have to have +ve on pin 2 and -ve on pin 4. Putting +ve on pin1 and -ve on pin 3 lights the led lights when not switched.

Found this out by taking a switch to pieces.

Thanks...
