Water inlet pipe leaking

Postby henryboy » Wed Aug 30, 2017 4:02 pm

Whether this is a design fault or not I don't know but there is a steel pipe coming from an aluminium unit. Naturally, the steel rots (eventually) and the cost of a replacement part is in excess of £120. Removing the water inlet pipe it is possible to take out the steel pipe from the aluminium casting. Carefully grind off the rotten metals and turning this steel pipe around it gives enough tubing to fit the flexible water pipe to. Purchasing J B Cold Weld glue at a cost of £10 you can then glue the steel pipe back into the aluminium casting - result, no leak and a saving in excess of £100

I am sure that one of the mender's did a how to on this a while back and I cant for the life of me remember what they did but it didn't cost a fortune.

One of the senior menders will know where the topic is and point you in the right direction.
