Compressor check

Got a problem, need some advice ?
Get in here and ask the pros. There will always be one to bring you the correct answer, quickly.

Compressor check

Hi all ,
Any ideas how to check if your ac compressor clutch is working?
In process of trying to sort ac but need to check function of compressor before I go any further , need to check for leaks then , any advice would be appreciated :handgestures-thumbup:

I take it that you have tried to switch on the A/C and got nothing? is the view check window empty? as for checking for leaks you need to hook up a leak tester can which can be bought cheap enough off the bay of e and once it is in there you should be able to switch on and see if the clutch works.

I have a feeling clutch is knackered as it’s continously spinning
I’m sure it shouldn’t spin all the time only when ac is on?

Nah the pulley is always spinning and the compressor only turns when the clutch is engaged.

One can put 12V onto the clutch wire to check if it engages. But if it does don’t leave it on before checking why it’s not working. Blown relay. Missing gas. Faulty pressure switch. There’s a pretty good fault-finding section in the service manual.
