Hi,
I hope you can help me.
Recently our Mazda had been left a few weeks and when I went to start it the battery was dead. I then proceeded to give it a jump start. When I hooked up the donor car the alarm started. It went off after a while. I then tried to start the mazda but just getting the starter clicking. This made me think the Immobiliser had kicked in and needs re set?
I have since put in a brand new battery just to cover that. Anyway got a Auto locksmith out. Long story but he was useless (£60 call out charge). Then got an auto electrician out who managed to get the car started by using his machine which I think by-passed the immobiliser somehow, although I'm not 100% sure?
He is convinced that my immobiliser is faulty and needs replacing (another £80 charge to tell me).
Any advice how to do this, where to buy and if it is difficult and how expensive it would be?
I'm reluctant to have it towed to Mazda as I know they will charge the earth!
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
BaZ

Re: Immobiliser Problem - Mazda MX5 2002
Hi, we are based in Stockport and my son's 2001 MX5 (1.8) Mk2.5 is currently with the main dealer - they say we need a new immobiliser as it has a fault that cannot be cleared. It sounds very much like the problem outlined in this thread - the problem started with a flat battery and I tried jump starting the car with leads and then the immobiliser light came on. Any advice welcome. I don't expect to hear from Mazda until 03.01.14
