Help with Broken Heater ventilation slider

Postby tomsky » Thu Aug 18, 2016 9:58 pm

Hi I am a newbie here (black 92' Vspec). I Was looking for a bit of help with the ventilation direction slider on the heater control panel. From what it feels like I think the connection has broken on the back of the heater control panel or slider itself. It slides (very easily) and does nothing. Ive looked at the cables in the footwells and they still seem attached to the pins that they should sit on and if i move them manually in the footwell I can set the choice of vents. Just wanted some advice on whats best to remove in order check the connection of the cable on the back of the heater panel and do i need to disconnect all the heater cables in order to pull the control unit out or is there an easier way to get to that area.

Thanks in advance for any help

Sounds like the plastic and metal cable locking lug as broken off the body of the heater control panel...if your lucky and you find the piece you might be able to super glue it back in and clamp the outer cable back down to work correct again...if not then a new heater control panel...but i would also check that the end of the cable as not become unhooked off thd flapper control mech.
