Mark 2.5 Radiators

Postby scunninghamk » Tue Jan 30, 2018 4:37 pm

Hi all
I don’t think my radiator is working very well and as I know it’s had it’s fair share of gravel-rash I’m thinking of a replacement. Any advice?
The fan doesn’t seem to come on much either although the engine temp seems ok on the gauges (I don’t trust gauges though). Maybe the thermostat is goosed?
Any help gratefully received.

You could try giving the radiator a flush out, take the top n bottom hoses off and stick the hose pipe in and give her a good blast out.

Your temp gauge is dampered and is running far hotter than the gauge is showing at dead middle....have you had her sat running on the drive to see if the fan comes in and out?

No I haven’t done that specifically but I have noticed that after it’s been out the the fan doesn’t come on when the car’s newly parked up... as it sometimes does with other cars.
