mk2.5 not cranking (maybe immobiliser)

Postby pineapple » Sat Mar 03, 2018 10:42 pm

have a nb fl 1.6
been stood for 4 month & battery was flat when I went to collect it,
won't crank off the key
checked fuses, battery is charged, earthed battery direct to body
tried towing too, had ecu apart but no sign of water ingress,
& theres no key symbol on the dash either ,

I've powered starter direct with a power probe & it cranks fine so thats not knackered,
after a lot of digging about on the net & Facebook I'm feeling its the immobiliser thats give up
I understand these have to be bought as a complete kit with ecu & key ...

is there any way to bypass the immobiliser, myself ?
a local firm said they can remove the immobiliser from the ecu side of things but not sure how this would sit regards the immobiliser unit
would it just crank like a normal car or would my problem still exist ?

surely someone has bypassed this before as seems a common issue

any input would be appreciated :text-thankyouyellow:

What was the fault before you bought her? Did they say?..did she run find before being stood for 4 months?..
As anyone ran a fault code test with an OBDII reader.
Immobiliser system cannot be bypassed as yet...so there is no point with the ECU chap ...
