Is there a way to adjust the mk1 headlight covers so they align properly with the bonnet and bumper and all gaps are the same? Small issue I know but aesthetically pleasing when correct! Many thanks.

If it’s just a small adjustment to align to the bonnet line then yes.
Pop up the headlights, remove the black plastic side cover from memory a couple of pozidrive screws. The headlight cover is then held in position buy 4 screws, one on each corner. Loosen and adjust. Retighten and check alignment.
Nice and easy 10 min job.

Depends which line john..if it is more to realign back up to the height of the bonnet after someone as leaned on the headlight lids...then easy enough..i have put a vid on menders you tube channel...if it is about the gaps all the way around.then adjustments need to be done in a number of places..the phillips bolt heads for the headlight lids can either be just round phillips heads or 8 mm bolt head with a phillips also..
Before trying to move them apply freeing up oil...they are a soft metal and can be easily chewed whith a phillips driver....the round heads can be a bigger issue to slacken off or remove...if they do get chewed...the best action is a dremmel and a cutting disc and cut a slot in the bolt head through the middle and use a flat driver with a spanner section for leverage...remove and add grease for next time..
If it is sat to far back..then it could be a headlight frame issues...maybe from a minor kiss.
It could be the bonnet not positioned correct ,the nose cone or the wing .
