Transmission Shunt

Postby MXRod » Fri Jul 06, 2018 11:16 am

Mk 2.5 1.8 sport, 2002, 49kmiles
Not seriously looked under or over the engine mounts , but I get the feeling they are going soft .
Also I can find no evidence of an engine stabiliser , Is there one ?If not , aftermarket ?
I am finding that there is a pronounced elasticity in the engine / transmission – back axle link.as though they are linked by rubber bands
Gentle on/off throttle in traffic causes what I can only describe a sort of rebounding of surge and then engine braking . which is quite uncomfortable
Any thoughts , cheers

From memory of our departed 2003 sport, there is no engine stabiliser, the only judder we had was via the clutch which was a known fault and cured by a new uprated clutch.

The transmission on MX5s is fairly robust and simple, never heard of the symptoms your describing but I am sure when Mm is done mending, he will have a better idea.
1993 1.6 Eunos Roadster (gone)
1998 UK Mk 2 1.6 (gone)
2003 1.8 SVT Sport (shouldnt have sold it)
1991 1.6 Eunos Roadster with a bit of bling.

Life is a journey, best travelled topless in an MX5!!
