Parking Light and ABS light stays On

Postby Lilsumo » Wed Aug 08, 2018 7:02 am

Hi got a 2002 mk2.5 1.6. It has abs light and Parking light which stays on all the time.
I tried the diagnostic little box under the bonnet but abs light doesn't flash or disappear maybe I'm doing it wrong? I will try obd port diagnostics today.
When the handbrake is down the parking light does go dim, but stays on. I checked the handbrake switch which is working fine.
Checked brake fluid level aswell which is above max.
My question is are both dash lights connected to each other? Can a bad ABS sensor cause both lights to come on?
Any help will be appreciated thanks.

Sounds like the handbrake light is going off and the dim light you are seeing is from the ABS warning light shining through...she is a Mk2.5 so the read fault codes you will need a OBD II reader which plugs in over your fuse box in the cab buddy.

Hi I did diagnostics today didn't show up anything, I went to a garage and used there's, still showing up no codes, even did a brake test brakes felt good however the ABS didn't engage maybe I was too scared to press harder. Will try again on a private road where it's safer.

Diagnostics done today using 3 different machines, still showing no codes on all 3. I will open the dash cluster to see if the ABS light shines through to the parking light.
