I think I messed up... broken driveshaft?

Postby lingolouis » Fri Nov 12, 2021 5:35 pm

Hi guys, so long story short, I messed up.

I was trying to remove my rear passenger side axle nut, and I did so without the wheel being on the ground, I just forgot. After some (but not actually that much) force with a breaker bar, I heard a bit of a clunk which came from near the differential, and now the driveshaft spins on it's own with little force needed.

I guess I'm wondering, what's most likely happened here and what will I need to replace?

Idk if this makes any difference, but the previous owner welded the diff on my car.

Thanks guys!

Having thought about it, surely that's what the driveshaft should do? Maybe I've broken the weld in the differential

Are you sure you have not separated the drive shaft joint.
