Hi guys,
Thought I would ask on here too while checking the Web for a Mk1.
Wasn't going to start looking till later in the year but can't wait. Looking for a cheap Mk1 up to £1000. Bodywork needs to be okay without major rust issues. Aim to keep this long term. Either 1.6 or 1.8 manual but no 90hp version. Import or UK. Preferred colours red , yellow or white but only really silver I don't like. Can be a bit rough but solid.
I know I'm asking a lot in my price range. Had a look at a G limited last week but was a bit tatty for the money. Bid on a white one on Ebay but probably go over my limit and looking at another G limited local to me on Ebay but again think it will go over my limit.

TIA

Colin

OK. Will do. Just looking for something useable that probably needs some work. Oh forgot to say needs long (ish) MOT. Don't want to have to spend money straight away.

Cheers

Cheers Wayne,
Will wait for fotos but was hoping not to have to do anything major straight away. Don't mind getting stuff done over time but I suppose if the price is low enough it could be calculated into my £1000 budget.

Hi Guys,

Well I was supposed to be looking at a nice local G Limited yesterday (for sale on Ebay) but the guy obviously isnt interested in selling it as he never got back to me and it ends today. But coincidentally a girl on one of the Facebook Mx5 groups was selling a 1.8 N Reg import (in white) locally. It was a little more than I wanted to pay but did have a hard top. I went to look at it last night and took it for a long (longer than planned as we got lost) test drive. It is standard apart from lowered springs and nice alloys. Well I just couldn't resist so have said I will take it. Arranged to pick it up on Saturday. Getting 2 sets of wheels with it one red set which i'll keep on it and one black set which I may use on the MEV. Will post photos when I get it. Cambelt etc was done at the beginning of the year. Oil change every 6000 miles. It has a mohair roof with glass screen but the glass screen panel is sagging so need to have a look into that and I will change the springs to standard ride height as i still have a set in the garage. I paid £1100 with both sets of wheels but not hard top as it is no use to me. So if you know anybody who wants a silver hardtop I know one for sale. Bodywork is in good condition with just some patches of paint missing on the front bumper and a few little scabs on the back bumper. Quite rattly on test drive because of the harsh suspension but solid and useable.

Now need to start checking for insurance on it. Just been reading the Adrian Flux posts.

Cheers
