I have a 51 plate Mk2 1.8 ICOn for sale. Dark blue with 110,000 on the clock. It needs welding to both inner rear wings, which it failed the mot on, and all wheel arches are beginning to show bubbling. Underneath is mostly surface rust, but no holes. I have tried to weld some plates to the wheel arches, but my facilities are lacking (on my back with a welder that is much too powerful, and cannot be turned down low enough to weld properly on a car). $ good wheels, professionaly powder coated in black glos, with 4 new tyres that have not done 250 miles yet. New discs and calipers on the rear, drives well, if a little hard with the low profile tyres on. I have had a bit of fun in this car, it really is fun to drive, and i will miss it, but unfortunately, the work required is beyond my abilities. The roof is a litle tatty, but does not leak. I had an immobiliser issue a few weeks ago which i managed to sort out, but bought another ecu and immobiliser with all locks and a key with the same numbers as on the originals, but never fitted them as they were not needed, these will be sold with the car. There is also NO service history with the car. I am open to sensible offers and viewing/test is available at any time i am at home. Contact Chris 07887718148 for anymore details. Thanks Chris.

Ok, i had this on fleabay for 500, but it didnt sell, so, i am now going to strip it down and do ALL the work needed to get her upto scratch. I will need help, especially with electrics. But for now, i am just going to strip her down and have a good clean underneath then i will be able to see just what she needs. I did toy with the idea of scrapping her and getting a newer model, but she is just too good for that and the drive is remarkable. I even prefer her to my Lexus.

That's the kind of attitude I like, mend it for yourself and be happy that you have done it right, especially if she is a keeper.

The gang will keep you right.

Good news. Power washed the underside today, very little rust showing, just small bits of surface here and there. It looks like she has been undersealed a couple of times, so at least she has had some protection from the weather. Took the undertrays off and sprayed them with galve spray. Looks like she will be back on the road much sooner than i though, hopefully within the next 2 weeks.

Nothing wrong, i was going to strip her down and rebuild her, but now that i have found very little rust i wont need to do that. I have a 100 amp wlder coming next week so i will be finishing off the plating and get the mot passed for her. I was having problems as the only mig i could access was my 500 amp plant at work, just a little too heavy for vehicles.

Update. Welded her yesterday and going for MOT tomorrow i think. Had a couple of mechanics give her a quick once over and they both said the adviseries on the MOT fail sheet were very excessive and they dont think the tester had done a good enough job, just given her a quick look at and added the adviseries, which i am a bit p****d off about. I wont be going to that garage again. The wifes son is a mechanic and works just up the road so will be going there in future. Will let you know how she goes with her new MOT. Did drive her down the road after getting the wheels back on (forgot to tighten up the wheelnuts in my excitement, so drove back very slowly, then tightened the nuts up), I forgot what a dream she was to drive. Hopefully back on the road this weekend and funtime again.

We know how you feel about the weather.

Washed and polished ours a few weeks back, after filling wth nice clean fuel and putting on a full set of new Yokohamas and its rained every time I have a day off.

Great news on the MOT. Always a good feeling after fettling em for the test and they pass.
