Problem getting into Gear - pumping the clutch helps

Postby MrChrome » Sat Oct 27, 2012 8:03 pm

Pete's having trouble, not every time he uses the clutch but he can't get it into gear.

When he pumps the clutch it works works fine for a time..

Any ideas?

Could it be that the master cylinder needs a bit of a revamp with new seals ?

I'm just having a guess but it may pay to look at the slave cylinder to see if there is any signs of fluid

Pete says there is a small thing made of metal at that side of the engine bay that seems to be leaking some sort of fluid.... It's not very much fluid...

Could that be the slave cylinder?

:text-goodpost: The Slave Cylinder is the culprit here, it sits on the side of the gearbox, just under your left foot. The rubber seals have perished and a kit is required to be fitted, once fitted the system requires to be bled of all air through the bleed valve and the pumping of the pedal should be no more. :auto-layrubber:
