Pete's MK 2/2.5 heater blower is not working( no speeds)

Postby Mazda Mender » Wed Feb 25, 2015 8:34 am

He's back and this time with his MK 2/2.5 he as come to put the heater on as normal and as nothing, the speed control is doing jack, blower is not kicking in on any of the speed settings 1 to 4.
It is winter and it's cold, so he needs his heater to also keep the windscreen clean from fogging up as driving around withe the windows open at this time of year all the time is not an option. everything else works.
Can you help the fellow owners keep his toes warm :handgestures-thumbup: :coffee:

Ford and Vauxhall 9 times out of ten it the rheostat/resistor. But high speed will always work as it bypasses the resistor.
Renaults often melt the wires up in the dash next to the motor.

He as tried that and it is fine, he has been told that if the resistor had failed or faulty it would bring on the fault of only working at full speed (number 4)

So...its a switch,a resistor a blower motor,wiring and fuses.
Switch has been checked.
Resistor ruled out as the motor doesn't blow at all.
Has the motor been checked?
Has any of the wiring suffered damage? Or is there a short in the system?
