Pete has a problem with his MK1 instrument cluster lights

Pete is a real MX5/Roadster enthusiast and as such owns all version of the car. He's also incredibly unlucky with his cars which suffer from just about every ailment we have come across (and a few we haven't - yet). With your help we can keep all his cars on the road and the smile on his face so please come in and see if you can help.

Since Poor Pete has owned his MK1, the instrument cluster lights have never worked, anyone any idea whats wrong and how to help him out?

He as check the fuses and they are all OK.

He has had the cluster out and all is OK ,he has even tested the bulbs in the side light cluster,to check that the bulbs are not all blown, all bulbs are OK too.

Has the plug on the back of the blanking switch which has a loop in it come adrift ?

He has just undone the two philips screws that secure the steering column cover to get to the switches and the blanks on the right hand side. He found a small blue plug with 3 wires going to it flapping about behind there, one of the blanks had a white back, so he plugged it into that and twisted the light stalk......
Thank you Flea, he now has lights on his dials and heater control panel.
