Poor Pete's got water in his boot

Postby flea » Mon Oct 15, 2012 6:41 pm

Peter took his jacket out of his boot & it was soaking wet. Water has been getting in from some where. Any ideas where it's coming from?

Well on my MK2.5 it was simply the drain hose come adrift at the top next to the filler neck inside the boot.

Usual suspects include rear light seals, aerial, boot seal or the rain rail.

Which area of the boot is getting wet?

We'll Pete thought it was one of the rubber bungs under the carpet that had come adrift but typical he looked at all the places you said & the last place was the light clusters & there it was. Well done :handgestures-thumbup:

It could also have been....

A damaged rain rail,
Aerail seal,
Fuel filler tube seal,
Chrome back plate rubber seals,
Boot seal,
Boot brake light seal,
Boot spoiler seal,
Blocked rain rail,
Block drainage tray or tubes,
Body work seam seal,
Or just condensation ,
but to much condensation means that there is a problem somewhere.
