The Electric Window Regulators on MK1, Mk2/Mk2.5 and Mk3 are different.

The are handed and you can check which side they are by the stamped L or R on the end of the regulator... REMEMBER LEFT and RIGHT are taken as if you were sitting in the driver seat...

Here's a MK2/Mk2.5:

NOTE the motor is slightly SHORTER and the mounting points are slighter further apart. So they won't fit a MK1!
