This is a great tool for anyone in their garage or driveway on axle stands for refilling the gearbox and diff oils etc ( can be used for many other jobs) saves a lot of hassle and oil everywhere, it took me half an hour to do the two..

Wayne,

I'm well confused here.

I have a metal bodied 500ml version of this, available everywhere that leaks like a sieve as reported by many others.

It is a no name unit but looks like this one.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-Oil-Su ... 3f2b19ce5d

I assume that the unit you tested does not leak out of the back of the unit and has a better overal seal.

What I cannot work out is that this unit recons it is 1,500ml but it does not look 3 times the volume of the leaky tool that most people have.

Does it take 1.5 1 ltr bottles of gear oil?

Think of it as a giant syringe that is sealed , I know the type you have as I have one to , but this does not leak , if it did and was a waste of time I would of said so and in the points, this works and works well and is quick to use, I will do a vid on how to use it as it will give me a chance to use my new head cam for the mazdamenders you tube channel.
It is a 1.5 ltr contianer , and it is all marked up ltrs etc very clear.

Bougtht one of the 1.5ltr jobs and used it in anger today on TJ the past Tayside Co-ordinator's Mk2.

Well on the first 1.5 litrs it was leaking so tightened everything up when doing the gearbox fill.

The second 1 litre it was leaking again and it seized. I could not believe it. The piston must be at an angle.

How can a bit of plastic seize?

At the moment Wayne's 1 litre plastic bottle with his extended spout came to the rescue.

Further investigation needed.

The only thing I can think of is that I remove the piston put in the oil and put the piston back in.

Maybe you should not take the piston out but pull the oil from the container under the vacumm of pulling the plunger outwards.

Will have a look later on, as you say Wayne it works for you!

Took the piston out and put in gear oil.

Then put the oil in the gearbox.

Simple stuff.

It was leaking from behind the piston and out of the front.

I will tighten the front connectors again.

Great idea of having a stopper on the end of the spout.

You do know that where the tube connects to the body ,that twists and acts like a tap?(Black) so you lock that off, put the stopper on the end of the tube, open the top, pull the piston out, put in your oil, piston back in, twist and lock the top, take the stopper off the end of the tube, put the tube end in what ever you are filling, twist the tap to open the body up, and push,in, lock, out, stopper, done.

Sorted Wayne I did not know about the valve on the front and no destructions with the syringe.

Great news because I have MX5 Grampian and Tayside at the house Saturday for a tech day and there are a few gearboxes to do.

Thanks again Wayne.
