Winking Popups Mod for Mk1

Come and see what our Jon is up to, with his electric gizmos that his mind and hands mould into magic little boxes of tricks, he gets bored very easily, so if you have an idea that you can throw at him, all the better for him to play with ;0)

You'd better check Wayne's connections! :o) If you can, ground the grey wire (with the lights up) - if it wins then, it's just the highbeam connection.

The one you have is only a rough prototype though, so it's never going to last long anyway. I'm just about finished the first batch of proper ones, so I'll get one over to you shortly to swap it out.

Then nothing has gone pop...

If the popups worked as normal it must be either a loose connection on the highbeam wire or the earth wire... As it's a prototype board that's possibly internal, or might just be where Wayne had to improvise with the ground wire?

An alternative is because I have designed the double-pull function such that it will ignore anything except a quickish double-pull (it ignores normal flashes and other anomolies so it only winks when you really want it to) so if you go too slow or too fast it might ignore you by mistake.

Personally I think on non-uk cars it will work best with a button, but that will mean finding one and mounting it somewhere, which isn't to everyone's taste.

If the lights carried on popping up and down, then the 4 connections to the motor are fine, it's got to be the ground...that's all that's left.

But don't bother fiddling yet as I'll be sending a proper one soon. :handgestures-thumbup:

Have you thought about the possibility of a Mk2+ wink mod? Ok, yes, I know Mk2+ don't have pop-ups so can't really do a wink but how about a simple left>right>left>right flash?

Not til now! More than possible, yes. Not having one to hand...do you happen to know where the headlight feed splits into two for each light? If that's somewhere handy, all the better. If not no biggie, but it would mean running wires from one side to the other.
