Personally I love this bit of kit and at the time I'm writing this it's only been on the car about 2 hours, plus I haven't drove it yet. It's definately a love it or hate it bit of kit... I LOVE IT!
All you will need is: Your hand and a 12mm spanner.
To start simply remove the gear knob with your hand by twisting it anti-clockwise (left)
Get your extension and screw it on with your hand as far as your strength will take you. Then just nip it tight with the 12mm spanner.
Finally screw the gear knob back on with your hand.
And... Done, enjoy changing gear like a boss! At first I wasn't too keen on the look, but I must say after changing gear a few times, it's really starting to grow on me.

Re: Jass performance gear stick extension.
It is a drifting gear shaft extension, which will go with the very nice drifting button for the hand brake.

Re: Jass performance MK 1/2/2.5 gear stick extension.
Great review and feedback, Mini MM!:)
Same over here - I never liked those extenders, if fact I loved MX5 because of the short shift.
Had them ready just before a track day and forgot one on the car. Drove it for 5 mins - it was still there. Drove it for half a day - it was there. Took it to the trackday with it. And a friend of mine with a 5 loved it as well (still in his DD).
Now I even made the Jass gear knobs one inch higher than the stock one and this works as an integrated extender to the gear knob - works fine and looks fine!:)
Cheers,
Vlad

Re: Jass performance MK 1/2/2.5 gear stick extension.
Btw. I thought the bottom collar on the extenders covers up to the gaiter also on MK2.5s as it does on MK1s?
Good news is - they also work with MX5 MK3.
