Universal Brake stopper for the Mk 1/2/2.5

Postby Mazda Mender » Sun Nov 16, 2014 8:07 pm

Yet another great product From good old Vlad at Jass performance, it is a bit fiddly to fit but spot on, engineered to his top standards as normal, took all of 10 minutes to fit, which can be fitted with or without a strut brace of what ever make.

Vid below......

It only got a 9 out of 10 because of if anyone has the OE early top mounts still fitted that are short studs you will only be able to fit one or the other (IE:- strut brace or brake stopper) as the studs are to short to be able to fit both at the same time, the later longer studs will not have a problem fitting both.

9 out of 10

Thanks, Wayne! Cant thank enough for the detailed review and video! Did not know about the first version with the shorter studs as well.
Just to add from my experience so far - the more pre-tension applied to the cylinder/booster the more the brake feeling improves. That makes me believe that the main effect of it is of the strengthening the booster, than from prevent the firewall flex.

Cracking looking bit of kit - looks considerably better than the one's i've seen up till now that butt up to the back of the m/c, best thing is you can fit it with a strut brace, which is what's held me off buying one up till now.

This is going on my Christmas list!

thanks for taking the time to make the video, I've been reading about this issue for a while and saw a video of what it's like without any support (scary when you think about it), will be fitting one as soon as possible.

Wouldn't fit my Mk2.5 sport. The brake pipes are in the way. So not really universal. Gutted is an understatement

I don't see a problem? as the adjuster/brace bar sits low enough to miss the brake lines running underneath, if it is about the bracket that bolts onto the master it will fit.
Can someone with a Mk 2.5 sport to fit one to and do a how to please.

Hi Pete, I learned quite many lessons from the first version - not only the left side and right side on MX5s are nothing like symmetrical, but there are least 7 versions of the brake stoppers for RHD only and lots for the LHD. It took quite a while to ensure the "universal" fits and it did so far successfully until this feedback from you. Even the MX5 2.5 Sport was produced with different master brake cylinders ...

Just seeing the pictures, thanks a lot for them! It is a bit difficult to estimate the clearance, anyway, I will have one next brake stopper posted to Wayne to testfit on MK2.5 sport with the next batch.
Or if you bought yours from me, I will be happy to refund it if you can post it to Wayne?
