Some of you might have seen their mobile unit at the OC's track weekend at Blyton...

but I am always too busy there to have a good chat and give one of the roadsters a power run. I contacted Chris, Gareth and Nikki at their home base unit in Warrington so I could have a trip around and a nosy around of what it is all about as it goes right over my head :confusion-confused: .
So a date was set; Monday the 30th of September after the OC National Rally with the Mk 2 White V.S to have a power run to find out what power she still had, and was giving in standard form to be able to compare to for when I boost her by fitting a supercharger.

On arrival I was met by smiles and hand shakes By Chris and Gareth who then filled me in with who they are and what they do and how all this came around. While they were giving me the full run down they were showed me around their unit...

First impression is wow. These guys have not cut any corners, the equipment is top of the range, the dyno was shipped in and the builders came from overseas to install it. The mobile unit was purpose built for what they wanted and needed, and it is a lovely bit of kit. You might have seen it at one of the OC's Blyton track weekend.

They also shot the famous Audi R8 V10 advert here :bow-yellow: I remember that as I only work around the corner and the video did not do the noise level justice ....... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0_GCuim9kY .......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO4qvtWrIWE
After having a good old chin wag and being shown around, there are some really nice cars just sat there that they play with from time to time. Chris's background is racing cars and Gareths is racing motor bikes so they know their stuff. There is also a games simulator booth where you can play games while they do their magic (big kid time me thinks) :handgestures-thumbup: :bow-yellow:
What came out of this from my limited know how from what the guys told me is that the engine is spot on after 15 years and 90,000 miles. The guys did a search on the BHP for the Mk 2 1.8 in standard set up which came back as 144BHP peak top end on the engine, she pulled 144BHP. At the back wheels Mazda state it should be 127BHP, she was pulling 127BHP. The guys also noted that the air and fuel mix was one of the best they had seen because she was running dead true. Now the graphs at the bottom of the page mean nothing to me to be honest, so I will get the lads to pop on and explain a lot better as this is their area of know how not mine, but it was nice feed back :bow-yellow:

The spec of the White Mk 2 V.S...
1.8 engine...standard just well serviced
6 Spd gearbox....standard spec on this model/version
LSD diff....standard spec on this model/version
HKS short snorkel induction kit....aftermarket
Mx5 parts twin exit S/steel Zorst.....aftermarket

After searching for the factory BHP for the standard MK 2 1.8, we got 144 for the engine, power run gave us 144 which great for a 15 year old roadster with nearly 90.000 miles.
BHP to the wheels was 127, so she loses 13BHP through the engine and all the gearing to the back, with the search on factory BHP she was spot on.
Fuel and air mix was spot on to.

Third.....

Top line is clutch Torque power at the flywheel in N-M
Bottom line is the Torque at the back wheels in N-M.
The very bottom graph is the Air/fuel mix....

And what a great visit. Met some great people, had a play with the car, brews and biscuits were plenty and the banter and knowledge was flowing, all centered around being petrol heads with a passion... Hey, what more could you ask for really?
So thanks to the team at Dyno drive, Chris, Gareth and Nikki for looking after me and my little Roadster and I'll see you again soon :bow-yellow: :handgestures-thumbup: :coffee:

Now the Guys at Dynodrive http://www.dynodrive.co.uk/enquiry.asp do a whole lot more than just Power runs and you are best giving them a call direct, as I know on most other car makes, vans, trucks and bikes they can remap for better fuel consumption to save money on fuel costs with the remapping/tuning side of things, all over my head, leave it to the people who know what they are doing :handgestures-thumbup:
They are based in Winwick Quey Ind Est just off the A49 at Warringtown
Mon > Fri 8am > 4.30pm phone for space and time, sat is by appointment only,

i.e. what gear did they have the car in when running it on the dyno. I think Surrey Rolling Road usually use 3rd but sometimes 4th on a 6-speed with high power.
