Toyota dealership has the green light for alignment

Postby Mazda Mender » Thu Aug 15, 2013 7:55 pm

Just been to HW Moons Toyota dealership ( http://hwmoon.toyota.co.uk/ ) today with the white MK2 (I know at last) for them to play with on the alignment front, and for you lot to use with a major, major discount for MazdaMenders members, check the discount section for the discount code to be used.
I was greeted by Mr Damian Hundley-Appleton, their aftersales manager, and given a very nice brew from their very nice lady at reception :bow-yellow: :coffee: , i was then taken through to the man pit with the other grease monkeys.... heaven, plenty going on in there, very busy workshop with plenty of man banter :handgestures-thumbup: especially from scooter lover with the hairdressing jibes   .
I was then introduced to Mr Mick Barton who will be our alignment man in the know so I handed the keys over to Mike to be driven onto to the lifting ramps, which we watched that she would clear everything (they are aware that a lot will be arriving into an inch of their lives and will sort the run up and on out) to do the do that ALL the MX/Roadsters need.
Once he had stroked his programming machine to the settings needed, the spanners were out and we were under the Roadster while I showed Mike just how easy the roadsters are to work on and where, he was away like a man posessed, there was no stopping him, and the banter flowed (and I have never seen anyone sweat so much  ).
1 hour later and with everything lighting up green on the screen of settings she was ready for a test drive, so off came all of the equipment and once again handed over the keys to Mike.
Off he went into the sunset to return shaking his head from side to side, "The trackings not right" he said, so he drove her back on the ramps, but I had a brain storm (I know dangerous) to which I squeaked out...... "it could be the tyre pressures are too low as she does not get used, as your settings were spot on." So out came the air line and tyre gauge......F.O.S 18psi......R.N.S....................................................8psi
So off she came again for a test run into the sunset, this time on his return he had the MX smile, nodding his head up and down, happy days, she was then parked up with the engine running while we did what petrol heads do best, talk cars and lift the bonnet for a bit of throttle cable revving MMMmmm.
So off we went then to pay the bill and go and test drive her myself up the twisty turny test road in Standish.....great, all solid, but need to get some Yokohama on as the p6000 are proper ditch finders and I got some great noise out of them on my test run  :auto-layrubber:

So anyone wishing to book in with the lads needs to make sure that ALL the alignment bolts are free and track rod ends, otherwise if one snaps or one is froze and they need to use whatever they can to remove one, you will be going into labour costs and the price of a new bolt or two, I have left alignment bolts there so they will not be stuck getting hold of any if needed, they are not free, but I know that you lot will check everything is free will before hand, won't you chaps :handgestures-thumbup:
The contact is Damian himself for booking in, (Saturday mornings maybe a problem? phone to confirm) he will also stress how important it is for you to have your alignment bolts free and moving, and you MUST use the discount code in the MM discount section (this section is only visible after the 6 post rule is done). Mick is the man with the spanners for alignment.
If anyone wants me to check them over well before booking in, then please contact me.
Anyway some pics.......

For someone who doesn't know which bolts etc to check to see they that are free, which ones are they? Do you have to be under the car to check some bolts and do you have to take the wels off to check others?

Is this the only Toyota Dealership that is approved for alignment or can other dealerships do it as well?
