So now I have a question.

Image
Image

The above fotos show my problem. The Exhaust manifold I have is hard against the flange on the engine. Would it be ok to grind a bit of this away to give me clearance or do I then run the risk of it vibrating or knocking. What are your thoughts on this ?

I don't think you have much choice, just don't go made.

Suppose I should post some more fotos of what has been going on although not very exciting.

Image
Mounted the instruments to help with wiring routing.

Image
Laid some wiring in place.

Image
Wiring tray painted and fitted.

Image
Made holes for wiring to pass through and for mounting the ECU.

Image
Bracket for the second Fuse Box

Image
ECU and wiring mounted temporarily. Note edge trim on holes. I bought 25m of that for ÂŁ8 but only needed a small bit so will sell it on Ebay by the metre when I'm finished.

Image
Another foto of the wiring.

So it is coming on and is now a bit further.

Not been up to much on the MEV lately. Been away with the TTs and doing little jobs on the new Mk1.
But I have got a few little things sorted. Finally got my spacers for the tank and pedal assembly. The lathe at work was broken for quite a while then the guy was on holiday.

Found this socket, can't find anything to plug into it. Anybody any ideas. It is right under the fuse box on a very short lead.

Will get some more up to date fotos soon.

Cheers

Hi Eamonn.

I actually stole the design from another guy on the Exocet forum. If you check Nitrams Build he was the original. All I did was cut some small aluminium plates and made brackets up. There are 2 holes for the P clips mine were 5mm countersunk and 1 6mm hole to fix the bracket. I put 6mm rivnuts in the chassis rail. I also put some closed cell foam on the back of the bracket to minimise rattles. You have to put a bend in them to clear the chassis. All done to suit my chassis so no measurements I'm afraid.

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to say thanks for all the kind comments. Having seen the standard of work you all do and the builds a lot of you have this is high praise indeed. I think the fotos do flatter the truth a bit. I realize my skills are nowhere near as good as it appears and I'm learning a lot from this. I also realize it is taking forever to get this finished and my motivation does wane and the S Special has taken up my time recently but I'm hoping to get back on it soon and get it up and running.
So thanks for all your support. :handgestures-thumbup:

I don't think either of them sleep the times some of the posts are posted.

Ok had a day on the MEV today. It may not seem much but tidying up the wiring tray came on a lot today.

Image
Doesn't look tidy in this foto but believe me it is.

Image
The ECU and wiring tidy. Need to order a few 25mm p clips and some rubber edging trim to finish this end off.

Still trying to identify a couple of connectors.

Image
Image
This is up by the three switches on the dash.

Image
Image
This is over by the ECU but that means nothing as far as the MX is concerned.

They probably had more wires in originally. Any help appreciated.

So I am pulling my finger out. Back on it again tomorrow.
