Japspeed decat pipe.

Postby Mickcafc » Sun Jul 19, 2015 11:12 am

Hi all, thinking of ordering a decat pipe but on the info bit states only for track or off-road. I didn't think it applied to a 1990 vehicle, please advise. Also, anybody know if the Japspeed pipe is very noisy? Don't really want that. Thanks, have a great Sunday, Mick.

Cats were a requirement at mot time on vehicles on or after 1992.
your car may well fail if the tester doesn't realise the difference between an early and late model mk1 mx5.

If you qre not a lover of noise? Then don't fit a decat.

Hi Wayne, just want to try and squeeze a couple more bhp out if poss. Skuzzle's fitted a Milltek exhaust the other week and although their site says ex amount of hp gain Nick had it on the rolling road wotsit and showed no change :-( nice sound though, not too loud. Might start saving for her to be supercharged not that I know anything about it, just read that's the 'smoother' option for road use. What would you recommend? Want her faster but doubt she'll ever see the track. Thanks, Mick.

You get a little improvement from a proper tuned manifold matched to a good exhaust system but you will see next to nothing whatever you fit from the stock manifold back.

Can you recommend a good manifold that will go with the Milltek exhaust? Thanks, Mick.

I have been told that if your car had a CAT at manufacture, then it has to have one to get through the MOT, age is irrelevant.

If your car had a CAT at manufacture according to the MoT database then it has to have one to pass MoT. However, Eunos Roadster is not in the database so it gets tested the same as any other SVA car.
I think that's it... :geek:
