Time has been a bit limited so not much car progress. I did manage to shot blast the engine mounts and repaint and remove the inlet peplum and paint this silver.

Lifted the engine into today and mated to the gearbox so its now already to be plumbed in.

I have a quick question that I'm looking for confirmation on please.

The original engine was UK spec. My replacement is a JDM Spec. I have the ECU for the replacement engine and ASSUME I need to fit this in place of the UK ECU ? thanks

No you stay with the same ECU, no need to change it.

Back up and running and tested yesterday. All good, thanks for you your help.

So next on the list is:
1. Remove the chrome 'hoop's and fit a roll bar.
2. Refit passenger seat.
3. Replace wing mirror.
4. Service brakes.
5. Flat and polish.
6. Decide on ride height (looks a bit high to me)
7. Replace steering wheel.

That steering really is an eyesore.

As for the rollbar, I'd recommend a TRLane bar. Decent price and good quality.

Started the process of fitting my TR Lane roll bar.

Quite involved but getting there.

Roll bar fitted.

Nice day to enjoy the sunshine and car.

Roll bar adds a degree of purposefulness to the car. Nice contrast to the red seats in my opinion.

Next job is to fix the broken drivers door mirror. Thinking of painting the mirrors black.

Cars performing well, however noticed a little puddle under the rear LHS wheel. Suspected a brake fluid leak but found a leaking shock.

Two new shocks with Mk2 bump stops and gaiters ordered from Autolink. 9.5% May discount :-D

Replacement springs also on the shopping list. Looks like my next job is now lined up.

Just a quick update of progress.

So 500 miles done on replacement engine. All ok (touch wood). Repaired the drivers mirror and at the same time painted both mirrors gloss black. I seem to have a red and black theme developing with the roll bar and mirrors. I'm now planning on painting the screen surround black as well.

Image

Also fitted new rear shocks and -40mm springs to drop the body to a more respectable height. Thinking about wheels, would love some old style revolution wheels, maybe some polished rim BBS. In the meantime I'm likely to stick with the 14" wheels on the car and paint black.

To be honest I'm not the best judge as the original engine was knacked when I brought it.
