The thread is nackered on one stud that holds the rain rail to the bodywork, so I'm unable to tighten the retaining rail. I now have a small leak in this area! Any suggestions to over come this problem?

Try and get the thread back by re-cutting it with a stronger s/steel nut or tap a die set would be my first call, before it needs to go deeper, but one missing stud should not make it leak, i would check everything first.

Thanks, that's good to know that one bad stud should not make it leak. The beltline rubber is as hard as bullets, so possibly making a bad seal. I will post updates.
