Just read this thread from the beginning.
Nice write up,I too have a BRG MK1 (obviously the fastest colour) running on steel wheels.
I have to say I like the look of your alloys, they really suit the classic lines of the mk1.
Keep up the good work.

What a Day :-)
Managed to construct a new left panel in the trunk. It was nothing but Bondo, rust and aluminium foil.
Replaced rear inner and outer sill panel. And finally the new repair panel for the wheelarch.
I still have to chase the last pinholes in the welding, patch up the inner wheel arch and soak the mazter in dinitrol

M.O.T passed !!!!!
After many many hours under the mazter, it finally made it. A few advisories, but nothing major.
I bought a small party tent a couple of weeks ago. But it kept collapsing in the strong winds. After repairing it more times than I like to remember, it went to the bin and I bought this one:

3,6x6 meters and very sturdy. Oh what a joy. Light, heat and a dry floor to lay on :-)
I have not taken many pictures lately but I am indeed mending.
