Thanks. But you do!!! the majority of it is common sense and patience. Just start with small jobs and go on from there and take your time.

All the knowledge you need is on this forum, just ask if you get stuck.

Work continues, So managed to get the bonnet, boot, both bumpers, rear number plate panel and mirrors, top coated today. Nice to see some red panels after the grey primer.

Pleased to be making progress slowly. Couple of photo's (hard to get the camera to focus when the paint is so shiney :) Well that my excuse!

So, busy weekend prepping the main bodyshell for top coating. Final coat of primer and then lots more flatting down with 600 grit Wet and Dry. Had 'bath' fingers afterwards (you know when all the skin goes wrinkly due to being in water to long!)

So photos of the shell ready to go.

Then re mask the car (easier said than done) mix paint, play loud music, cross fingers and hope all the work has been worth it!!!!

The results after 4 litres of Classic Red.

Really pleased with how the rear arches have come out :-D

Finally, arch spats, doors and wing,

So feels like a milestone reached (couple of months behind schedule) but very pleased with the results. Panels all look nice and straight. Have learnt so much in the process so far.

Loving the colour depth of the classic red. Looks almost a 'Ferrari Red'. So then started comparing it to some colour charts and guess what , a very close match to Ferrari Rosso Corsa. Who would have thought

Next job quick flat and polish and reassembly. Hopefully I can remember where all the bits go/came from.

Spend a nice day in the sun today Waxoiling my 5. Then started the process of reassemble.

No one at home pleased I'd spend all day in the man cave but hay ho, somethings are important.

Got her back home and took these photos

Went for a 'small' stick on plate so not to spoil those nice lines

Received my replacement door/window seals today. Went for Mazda genuine replacements as apposed patten parts. Bit more expensive but figured its a key part and needs to look right.

M-m,

This looks to be a reasonable low miler. MOT fix's include front brake overhaul, track rod ends. Replace silly quick release steering wheel boss that has loads of play in it. Nearside rear sill welding and a bit of plating along the sill, as expected.

This will be phase 1. then longer term I'm thinking new sills rear arches, may need a new NS front wing. Then I was thinking about repainting in Old English White ???? and going down a retro look maybe steel wheels, chrome racing mirrors de tango indictors, lose the side repeaters , chrome roll hoop etc. On the interior remove the centre console and centre 'tombstone' heater control panel.

Not sure if this has been done before? whats peoples views on Old English White?
