So been working on my 5's lighting.

First job was to add an under bonnet light (just incase its needed un-expectantly on a cold dark night)

So sourced a cheap LED DRL/strip from fleabay and feed the wires up through the bonnet bracing so not on show. Used a simple 'earth' push button switch on the edge of the bonnet and a live from the aux side of the ignition (fused down to 2 amp). The result is open bonnet, turn key to Aux and light on :-D

Image

As with all LED's is super bright and draws very little current. Turned the lights out to test. plenty of illumination in the engine bay.

Image

Whilst on the lighting subject, MOT this Friday. One of my existing headlights had started to discolour so a potential fail. Decided to upgrade to Wipac Crystal's. Went to 'pop' the headlights using the centre switch..... No 'pop'. Tried hazards..... No hazards. Started pulling fuses thinking that whilst fitting the bonnet LED I may have fused something, all fuses check out ok :confusion-confused:

Cup of tea time! Then remembered I had replaced the centre tombstone over the weekend and most likely scenario being I forgot to reattach the headlight/hazard connector!!!

Looks like tomorrow's job to to remove and reconnect!

Anyway, new headlights look nice.

Enjoyed the National Rally this weekend. Entered my car in the Show & Shine for the experience. Lots of work to do according to the Judges :naughty:
Image

Picked up some good ideas from other cars there, great to meet the menders :-D

Found a bargain clock and a ZunSport grill.
Image

Image

Tested the clock and all good, need to fit over the weekend. Quick polish of the grill and then fitted.

Pleased with my work :coffee:

Sorry john just found this...you should of dragged me over buddy....just as a foot note i managed to see a judging sheet from that section from a roadster i have molded into a very nice roadster,,,and who ever judged that section had no idea what a modified car means from standard, and seemed very confussed on how to judge and does not know these cars full stop, he might drive one, but does not know them, to be honest i was a bit p*ssed with the lack of knowledge this so called judge had to be let loose to judge, it seemed to me like someone was dragged to help to fill a lack of people to judge.

O' dear, the OC Judges yet again not knowing the front end from the back end. Been here before, we went in and showed them how it should be done. With the lack of support shown we walked away. Looks like it's gone full circle again.

We argued the corner with them on the club board that they need owners that worked on them as they would know at a glance what was right or wrong in all areas, plus we would know how to judge the different sections correctly , we were told to put our money where are mouths were so we did, i had enough of helping and getting ear ache and treated like crap with double standards from the club so threw in the towel ...we handed it over after setting it all out in black and white, and it's all back where it stared.

The OC at their finest, pleased we left them to play mines bigger than yours.

I want my car to be judged for what she is by someone who knows what she is, a tidy example of a 1991 1.6 bog standard Eunos, simples.
1993 1.6 Eunos Roadster (gone)
1998 UK Mk 2 1.6 (gone)
2003 1.8 SVT Sport (shouldnt have sold it)
1991 1.6 Eunos Roadster with a bit of bling.

Life is a journey, best travelled topless in an MX5!!

Hi Wayne, Yes I missed a Big opportunity in NOT getting you or one of the other Menders to give me some pointers. IMO without the judges, no competition so I'm grateful for those that volunteer but strongly agree that knowledge should be tested in some way before being asked to judge.

I think one of the biggest issues is consistency. I got a point deducted as my stainless steel exhaust tail pipe to quote 'needed more polish' the car next to me had a standard exhaust with some natural discolouration around the end of the tail pipe and this attracted no comment or deduction :confusion-confused:

I had a copy of pictures on my car showing the work undertaken (ceased engine, replaced both arches and sill and repaint) and received a lot of great positive comments about the work I had done! Very satisfying!

Anyway onwards and upwards! pleased to be a Mender!

Can you send me a pic of your engine bay sheet please bud to compere against another....And crab me at the next one John please, time ran away so fast, it was a great day and event and Iain pulled it off with the limited amount of space that could be used there because of the building work going on, but without all those club members that gave up their time to help run it all as it was there event to, it could of never of taken place, so hats off to the volunteers, some even on this board.

Yeap as not got a clue about what he was judging...clean up the bay John and to be honest throw that away as it really means nothing, looks like all were judged the same, the section was a modified section not concourse... items are allowed to be no standard but is also all about fit and finish, the other i have read from this fill in, is far worse and contradicts himself in his judging which proves that he had no idea what he was doing and was not told or given direction on how to judge or what to judge by the team it looks like he was dragged into,,, i am p*ssed over this wrong judging to be honest.

I am sure this will been seen as "don't call our club" rather than there is an issue to be sorted and put right before to much damage is done to be turned around???
