Stuck Torox gearbox drain plugs

Postby drumtochty » Thu Nov 23, 2017 7:00 pm

Not Mazdas, one on an Impreza and the other on a Saab93

Impreza T70 Torox gearbox drain plug pulled say 120NM 90 lbft on the plug to loosen it and no go. 24" breaker bar and short scaffold pole.

Sabb T55 Torox gearbox fill plug that should be tightened to 45Nm / 33lbft pulled it to say 100Nm/75lbft to undo it and no go.

I'm using a no name say 20 year old set that cut from 10mm af hex bar and at these tightness's I'm getting worried about a no name tool.

What make of Torox sockets do you guys use for very tight stuff and do you go for the impact sockets.

Not wanting to save money, just get some Torox keys that can take the welly. I will buy T50,T55 and T70 and assume not in a set as I want these for specific jobs

Facom, US Pro and Bergen on ebay but not used any of these.

I believe Facom are used by the time served guys.

Comments please.

We use Bergen and they get some serious abuse on the motors we work on at the garage!!
1993 1.6 Eunos Roadster (gone)
1998 UK Mk 2 1.6 (gone)
2003 1.8 SVT Sport (shouldnt have sold it)
1991 1.6 Eunos Roadster with a bit of bling.

Life is a journey, best travelled topless in an MX5!!
