Hello from Derby

Postby dave62 » Sat Jan 20, 2018 2:19 pm

Hi all, my name is Dave and I've just (6 months ago) got my first MX5. Bought initially as a base for a kit car but having now driven it a bit, have decided to fix it up and keep it.
Its a 2002 MK2.5 1.8 Phoenix with all the known rust issues and probably a few unknowns as well! My plan is to tackle as much work as I can myself but will have to be done as and when cash/weather allows as I will be working outside on a shared drive and on a tight budget.
Currently I'm gathering parts and tools that I will need whilst waiting for the weather to improve so I can make a start.
Glad to have found this site, I am sure it is going to be an invaluable source of info and help for all the questions I'm bound to be asking.
Will try and put up some pics as soon as I've worked out how.

Cheers....Dave.

Welcome to the club buddy. Great choice of car. The Pheonix 1.8 is my favourite Mk2 and in my eyes the best "special edition" MX5 of any shape.

As for all the stuff you need & want to do, take your time. Start with the basics. Get the chassis rust sorted and maybe start coming to the events and getting some ideas as to which direction you want to take her.
1. A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, 2. Resale wont save your life in an accident, 3. Genius has limits, stupidity has none, 4. Never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level & beat you with experience, 5. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young!
