****FOOT NOTE****On the MK 2 what i meant about "will not test" ,on the MK 1 is the Fan test as the pin in the diagnostic block does not have that pin to test with like the MK 1 version which means that feature on the tester is of no use as it cannot be done through the code reader/tester it can only be done through the temp sensor plug under the coil pack by bridging.....viewtopic.php?f=189&t=6880

Bought myself a version 3,.
Have to say it looks professional in design and build.
However I have hit a problem that Ian is trying his best to help me resolve.
I followed the instructions to the letter.
Fitted the code reader and turned the ignition to position 2.
Errrrr, nothing. No power getting to the code reader
However if I fire the car up so does the code reader.
So something is wrong somewhere as it would appear that there is no power getting to the OBD port on position 2 on the ignition unless the car us actually running.
Ian suggested it may be immobiliser related but to my knowledge our 91 1.6 Eunos doesn't have one fitted. Well at least that's what I have just been told by the previous owner. I certainly have no key fob or anything remotely like one. I just pop in the key and turn it and away she goes.
Anyone else with a MX5Tech reader having the same problem.

Immobilisers usaully cut the starter and fuel if there is when fitted....?
Not hit that issue before...can you test the unit on another Mk1 or Mk2 close by?

Today having finnished work early, I set about checking all the fuses.
All were intact and working, so its not a fuse issue. There is no sign of any immobiliser ever having been fitted, the only extra wires I can find relate to the rear fog light.
So hopefully, if my mate gets back on Friday and I can try the code reader on his 1.8 mk1.
