My 1.8 NB recently went through it's MOT (yaay) with advisories for corrosion, one of which is the PAS pipes corroded to excess.

I expect that I'll replace them this year so would appreciate all tips and pointers to help me along the way.

First question is how would I go about draining...

Friends 1998 MK2 IS is on standard suspension. No faults but the car has done 110,000 miles with one broken rear spring and no leaking shocks but they must be getting on. Parts will be on the expensive side to do all round.

Can anyone tell me if all Mazda MX5s - Mk1, Mk2 and mk2.5 inc big brake models - use the same size brake bleed nipple on the front caliper? Specifically I want to know whether a bleed nipple from a 1.8 Mk1 will fit a Mk2.5 big brake caliper. Can anyone confirm this is the case please?

Hi guys can anyone tell me, without striping down the brakes in this weather and measuring the disc is there a code on the car to tell me it has defiantly got big brakes or not. Going to be a bit of a project for me calliper painting ect so was going to buy new parts and fit in the warmer weather...

I have just re-built all the calipers on my Mk2 and despite bleeding several times the pedal is not great and feels a bit soft.

I am wondering if air has managed to get into the ABS, although we were careful to only do one at a time.

Does anyone have the procedure for bleeding air out of the ABS...

No amount of unwinding on piston retracting screw will bring piston back ,
Am I missing something ,or do i have jammed /frozen piston ?

I'm doing some routine/tidy-up jobs and became aware that one of the frankenstein bolts for hardtop fixing is not tight. In fact I tried to remove it and it just spins and catches no thread. Seems to indicate the thread in the bodywork is suspect.

The retaining bolt on the timing belt pulley wheel of my Mk2.5 has seized solid.
No amount of swearing, WD40, Plus gas, Impact wrench will shift it.
Has anyone got any suggestions?

Just changed the oil on a 1.8 Mk2.5 and without thinking about it used Castrol GTX 10W/40.

Not an issue lubrication wise but most recommendations are for 5W/30 to run the VVT kit in the head.

I do not think it will be an issue but has anyone had a problem with the VVT kit with 10W/40 GTX.
