Greetings and welcome to menders, this site was built for every owner that might need her to help keep those bills low and also keep them on the road where they belong, she is run by very passionate enthusiasts owners for passionate enthusiastic owners, see her like a on line garage, there is a lot of tech stuff hopefully explained for everyone to use, if there is something you cannot get your head around, or you feel that there is a strong walk through guide missing that needs creating by one of us or from yourselves, please let us know, we are also on false book and youtube, which as short tech vids to help, and again if you feel there is a vid that would help please get it touch.

I have had a lot of interest on how I do my engine bay cleans with out taking days and removing everything, couple of hours at most, there really is not that much you will need

Having spent the last couple of days getting the dust off the Red un after the Silverstone Classic weekend, my efforts were all made worth while when the judges awarded 'Best in Show for the year 1980 - 2000' at Stafford Castle Classic Show.

Has anyone used this product? what is it like? Are there better alternatives out there?

I have removed the old underseal from the wheel arches and i have wire wheeled the surface rust out but there is some pitting with rust in that I need to sort out.

Hi there

I just noticed this weekend that the seal around the glass window on my MK1 soft top hood seams to be coming away (I've attached a couple of pictures), ideally I'd like to keep the hood for another year or two before replacing it. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could use to seal...

As above really. My throttle body is very dirty and is spoiling the look of the engine bay.
The casting itself is rough and ingrained, the spring is filthy, the black plastics and electrical connectors could be better. I know the butterfly and bore have some kind of coating and I don't...

First off the idea for this thread is to post up what you think of any of the products.

I've used TFR which I find :handgestures-thumbup: at removing all the crap.

Screen wash seems as good as any I've used in the past. Will give feed back later after I have used it for a bit.

Seems very odd washing a silver car again after 20+ years of washing black and dark blue cars ... she needs polishing and waxing ... I'm going to give a a clay bar session but would like any suggestions you have about what polish / wax to use on this lovely silver paintwork :handgestures-thumbup:

Last time I used renovo stuff, because it came in the boot when I bought the car, and it seems to have done ok (2 years not bad?) but I was just wondering if there are any other recommendations or a non-specific cheaper product that works just as well...or...

ok, I'm currently using some nice wheels, that I originally imported from Japan and had refurbished by Atomic Wheels in Milton Keynes. They have a 'deep dish' profile and have been finished off with a coat of clear lacquer. Through normal driving on our well maintained roads...

Having done the front and rear subframes in the Spring there was not time to concentrate on the rear hubs and driveshafts so been spending every spare minute getting them prepped for show. Also removing the Dinitrol from the rear quarters and bumper.

Polished the show disks with some fine...

So its that sad time of year where I will be fitting the hard top on. But before I do, its probably worth giving the soft top and good scrub.

So whats the best way of cleaning the soft top? Which products is recommended? And how many buckets should I use? :lol:

Morning chaps

I gave my roof a good cleaning with Renovo last Saturday. It was pretty clean as I'd given it a thorough cleaning a few weeks before.

Anyway, I used the Renovo reproofing stuff on Sunday and though all was well.

Today there's a funny greenish patch on the top just above the back...

Remember everything you do even the simple little things :oops:

Removed hoses, spark plug leads, few tubes & diagnostic box from bracket. Had a little spruce up after the winter months like you do.

Started car & she over revved like a banshee :eek:

What the hell.

Right just thought I'd start this up as I've seen it for mohair roof but not vinyl,
So what do you guys use as I've tried a few products, they look good when it's on but a soon as it rains it's smears all down the side of the car, like greasy, so what do you recommend to treat it and keep it like...
