If you have found this guide useful or any of the others, and as saved you on garage costs , please drop a donation to the site, what ever you it maybe, to help keep her open and running for others to use also, many many thanks.....
I have had a number of owners getting in touch about the interior light only working form just one door being opened, drivers or passenger side ,so I thought I would do a quick guide. Its a simple and easy fix: the door switches work on making an earth circuit to make the light work, so its just down to a clean from tarnishing...
You will need ....
1 x medium phillips driver,
1 x small flat driver,
1 x small file,
1 x sand paper,
1 x contact cleaner...
*** PLEASE NOTE THAT CLICKING ON THE PICS WILL ENLARGE THEM FOR BETTER VIEWING***
Open the door of the problem side and get the phillips driver and remove the phillips head screw that holds the switch to the B post and put it somewhere safe to be reused....
Then pull the switch from out of the post...
Find the tap in the centre of the connector, and press firmly down an pull to release it from the switch......
As you can see clearly , the tarnishing is bad and stopping a good earth contact....
Find somewhere nice to work and we need to pull the switch apart, start by pulling out the male spade connector. This will just pull free from the plastic and the shaft and spring can be dropped out of the front of the switch body....
Now it is just a case of cleaning the pick ups on the body of the switch, along the top and on the end, with the small screw driver, small fill or sand paper....
Now clean the male spade connector, not forgetting the sides where connection is made....
Once all clean, re insert the spring, shaft and press them in to then press the male connector back into place...
Spray some contact cleaner into the wiring looms female connector at the door pillar and leave to dry; once dry push the female connection back onto the male on the switch...
Offer the switch back into the b post pillar hole, get the phillips head screw and driver and screw it all back into place solid again....
And thats it done, do the other side while all the bits are out.
As always ,any questions , please ask , its what the forum and we are her for.
