Hi folks
Bought my Mk1 MX5 1.8 15 years ago - sight unseen, insurance right-off on ebay. When I picked it up every single panel was dented, the plinth for the rear number plate had been destroyed by someone using a crowbar to break into the boot, the hood had been slashed.... But it drove all the way from Dagenham to Reading along the M25 on a blazing hot day and stop start traffic all the way and the engine didn't miss a beat!
6 months later I'd fixed all the dents, replaced the hood and had a pal respray it in a lovely metallic racing green. Only comes out on sunny days these days and I have a list of jobs that need doing this winter - including the head gasket as she blew a hosepipe on my last little trip this summer and overheated.
So I guess I'll be asking for advice - first job, replacing the electric window mech....
