Get it out of your system. Keep it clean'ish. It can be just about anything that has ragged you up, but please not about the OC. Leave their politics there.

Hi guys.

Has anybody had any dealings with the above company. My stepdaughter (through her dad) bought a car from them for £3000. The car is a wreck and the owner of the garage has just washed his hands of it all and refuses to give her her money back. She had the car less than a month. Car was bought on debit card so no cover from credit card. The bloke is an a**ehole who has closed about 20 companies but lives in a £1.5 million house. She is really stressed now. The car is at a friends garage needing a new clutch and a load of other stuff. Need to get this out on the forums. I have shared her post on Facebook.

People like this need a good kicking.

Check with your credit car company first. I'm going to tell you some thing that happened to me a few years ago.

I bought a set of seats to go in the back of a ford van. These I purchased directly from a ford outlet in north London. Anyway after loads of messing about it turns out they were impossible to fit them.

We were told to return them & take pictures to prove we had done so. Me & a mate fooled the security guard saying we had a delivery. He just saw the boxes in the back then let us in.
We then backed into there warehouse & threw the stuff out of the van. My mate stood there with that day's news paper held up & I took loads of pictures to prove they had there goods returned. Barclaycard them put the money back on my card & took it back off of the company.

Neil Stokes The three month thing is not actually correct.
Age mileage price and condition do come into it.
The first month is actually your prime time to make a complaint. The vehicle has to be fit for purpose during that time and any reasonable faults should be repaired. After that and up to six months the garage has to prove the vehicle was not sold with that fault.
It's a bit of a mine field.
I've been in a trading standards partnership scheme for 11 yrs as a trader.
On an older vehicle a refund is not an automatic right either. The garage does have a right to authorise a repair. Unless it was bought online un seen then distance selling regulations come into play and you can have a refund.
Inform your local trading standards to log a complaint.
Make a written list of faults and keep copies.
Don't just pile in and repair it without the garages consent , they must be given the opportunity to repair . When they don't then you can move forward but get it in writing.
Most good garages in schemes will try hard to be fair to everyone involved.
It's the crooks that make it hard for everyone and they tend not to give a sh*t about the law.

Rasta Mac thanks for the details Neil Stokes. i didn't know all the ins-and-outs.

Neil Stokes Age mileage price condition.
An example would be buying a 15 year old car with 120000 miles for £1000 . In the first month a garage should make repairs. Let's say 2 months in and the clutch is starting to slip then it could be argued that that is to be expected with that mileage as the clutch would be expected to be at the end of its natural life.

Neil Stokes The consumer does generally have many more rights than ever before . That said the law is there to protect both sides and be fair ( that's the idea ) .
As we all know the law is often an ass
