Upside down piccies not withstanding, awesome tutorial. I just shoved mine in and zipped them up nice and tight and it is pushing out the side of the headrest.

Time to get the Hot knife out to slice through the foam. I didn't even know about the metal central bar.

Thanks!

That's why I broke the tabs off the outside of the speakers as I thought they may stick out. You will find the metal bar as you cut the speakers in so they are flush with the foam.

Pleased you learnt something :handgestures-thumbup:

Headrest Speakers uncovered

Postby blackyb » Sun Feb 15, 2015 4:51 pm

For a while now we have been thinking of upgrading the headrest speakers so today having read all the how to's, thought I would make a start and see what we have got in there!!

This is what we found.

So, looks like I am going to order two sets of the JVCs as recommended and have a go at making them a better more snug fit.

Thinking of also drilling the existing holes out a little larger instead of drilling new holes in.

Thoughts anyone!!

Right, so today, sun shining roads dry we took the little girl out for her first decent run of the year, top down and it was bliss.

So on getting home remembered that Mm asked me for a picky of the headrest speaker thingies so here goes!!

Seems that the passenger seat is exactly the same.

Think I will just buy a matching set of JVCs (4) and have a go at a tidier fit.

The cover on mine is fantastic plastic so enlarging the holes should be a simple but delicate job.

Advice please Mm!!!!!

Master Mazda Mender.

Any chance of those pickies. Just had the seats recovered in leather. I removed the old missmatch speakers and ordered a set of 4 4" jvc's that I hope to fit a hell of a lot tidier than the previous versions.
