Haha yeah that’s a call out.

I took a look at one of the wires

and I think the green/white is factory and the black/green has been spliced in. Put simply; would I just need to cut out the aftermarket wire for this particular section?

The connection wasn't exposed before, I only exposed it to check out how it's wired in. Also yeah the diagram Lumphammer gave me says the green/black wire is an indicator one too. I'm definitely going to try and sort this myself so I don't have to pay extortionate prices to have it removed .

Make sure you pull the power before cutting ,chopping and re joining.

, unfortunately still no start. I've made a start on changing the ECU set but I've ran into another problem.... To change the ignition barrel; how do I remove these screws?

I removed mine with a knackered wood chisel and tapped them round gently, the more common way is to use a dremmel to cut a slot in them. I think others have used those Irwin type rounded head bitey sockets (can't think of the proper description).

How did you get on with reconnecting the loom where the TOAD had been put in between?

Ahh okay, cheers mate.

The wires were just spliced in so I cut the aftermarket wires out and then covered up the exposed wiring :-).

Get a rotary tool with a cutting disc and cut a slot down the centre the use a large flat head driver.

I agree with everything lumphammer said above, the toad will have broken the circuit somewhere. When u was removing it did u find that it was wired in series with one wire, most likely near the ignition barrel? When u remove the toad you should have had to re-join this circuit in the original loom, without doing that it will stay dead.. you can't just cut an immobiliser out a loom with tracing every wire back to where it has been spliced in and make good again.. all immobilisers do is break a circuit, and the control module is basically a fancy relay box that needs a signal of some sort to activate it.

Apologies if you have already done all of the above, keep at it you will sort it in the end, keep posting your thoughts and updates
S-Ltd - Ongoing project, far from standard!

So, might there be a TOAD wire(s) that doesn’t lead straight back the TOAD unit when traced? I couldn’t find anything else when I was removing it, just spliced wires which were all traceable back to the unit.

Update: WE HAVE LIFE :-D! Switched over the ECU, ignition barrel & immobiliser and it's running great. In hindsight, I guess the TOAD wasn't actually causing much of an issue but I'm glad it's gone regardless; I'd rather not have it in the car if I don't know much about how it works.
