Ok so we plugged in a spare ignition barrel and switch to the loom and just cable tied it in place to test with as well as the original still in place which meant that we had to use two keys for testing one for the steering lock and one to start.
After a week of running her the fault as gone, so we swapped the ignition switch, and put it all back together and as not missed a beat since.
On deeper inspection we took the old switch apart to view and found that all the brass contacts were all full of carbon build up which must of been cutting power when warm, so after a clean and all back together, swapped them back and all is good, which also explains why we see the loom plugs melted a lot when replacing them, now it will be a case of removing them and giving the 30 year old switch a well deserved clean and re fit.
to to two that followed the process...never give up , the answer and solution is always around the corner.
So he is a happy owner and on his way enjoying his pride and joy until the next time........
