LED inspection light/lamp warning

Postby Mazda Mender » Mon Nov 09, 2020 8:19 am

I bought one of these to help with working on the front of the engines , it was a 200 LED light unit which was chargeable supposedly made by a CO called VOCHE with 200 LED MAGNETIC RECHARGEABLE CORDLESS WORK LIGHT + AC/DC CHARGERS..... so personally I would still be mindful of the 180,160,150 and so on...

"DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE ITEMS" on charging the handle and charger became hot, that should of been my first warning, but keen to get into rebuilding the front of the engine I needed it for,,,,after just 15 minutes of use, I noticed a flickering, but carried on, so to which a noticed half of the LED's go off???, and the clear tube looked a bit glazed , so I unscrewed the top I guess where you would of been able to replace a tube type bulb ( remember them) to find a bridge resistor glowing red ,melting and smoldering , so I turned it of quick, on further inspection I could see a spare resistor glued at the side the same as the one thats melted?????.
So it went straight back for a refund, which after a lot of back and forth, I got my money back as I did not want another replacement light to take the chance of setting alight in an engine bay....

Now there are a number of sellers on the bay of E selling these light units, personally I say stay well clear as they are dangerous in my eyes and quality is not great, very cheap Chinese rubbish. ...
