Owners that are having problem's on the MK 1/2/2.5's with the chrome fuel lids staying shut/not popping up when the release cable button is used. This is an easy fix, with can be sorted in less than 5 minutes.
Nip down to your local "Halfords" and grab a tin of their own branded silicon lube spray (silver with a red lid).
It has been said that once the lid starts to not pop or stick they need to be removed off the Roadster and a new spring fitted to solve the issue....load of rubbish.
The spring is under a plastic cap and with the frame of the lid being made of alloy it weathers and it is furring/oxidizing in the shaft which is holding the plastic cap solid, NOT THE SPRING, so once you have gone all nijja on the cap and the pivot points from the lid to the body, all will be good again if not better than new.
It can be all done in situ, spray the end release holding pin also of the OE cable, the lube spray will come in handy for other areas on the roadsters which we will be pointing out in other 'how to' guides.
