Cut the cat off which was cheap nasty bay of e special.....luckily it was a 370mm cat so we had a silenced de-cat to put on....on it went started her up to make sure it was not blowing, but as the norm as you solve one problem another shows its face, there was a slight rattle on the OE back box and with the de-cat on that slight rattle was not so slight any more, so we fitted a cobalt single exit zorts on, she does have power back after taking her for a little blast...

Fitted better clear headlight units, and some " mending in progress " repairing plasters...

Couple of little bits been done to make every day driver a little better..
Under bonnet light kit fitted(more on this kit later ) pics are pre connected..,changed the head lights for crystals clear units and some PIAA extreme force H4's... lovely and bright now, did away with the red brick on the back pumper...hate the fact that they fit off set...OCD thing i guess...and fitted a number plate light bar strip which is a proper reverse light and rear fog lamp ..so much neater...and a Eunos number plate clear cover..
Oh and she bite me lol.

She was on the clubs stand at the NEC where Ian mcpolish and marcus the hardest man to get hold of in the world, attacked her with a polishing machine and some clay bar, cutting polish and go go Jehovah beans wax? and what a job they did.....

Andrew had a whing at me about the front indicator and side light conversation that the indicator was not bright enough...so up graded to 21watt bulbs ...the whinging old fart....

Swapped the repaired vinyl black soft top out for a mohair blue one which when built she would of had a blue hood...

Correct seats have gone in and after a good clean and sort out have come up really well for a set of s/hand seats...

Well we hit an issue with Mel b in that she lost power and started vaping....turns out she as sucked all the Auto gearbox oil up into the outlet giving starting issues and loads of white smoke as she tries to burn off the oil which as collected in puddles and pockets so the inlet will need to come off for a good clean up etc etc.
And the problem is a diaphragm on the side of the gearbox on the PPF side which as stuck open on the breather for the box resulting in everything rushing for a party in the inlet, the diaphragm is around £50 and is esay to change, it takes all of 10 minutes tops, but its the after math it creates for the de-coat clean up .
It is a common issue with the Auto versions so be ready or mind full, when you see this happen in the flesh you will think the engine is toast ...don't worry it's not, nothing wrong with it, i have heard scare stories of this happening to owners which have had their roadster towed in to the "garages that know a little about a lot of cars but not a master of any" charge for engine replacements etc because of the lack of knowledge on these roadsters and even more so the auto versions
So rest assured she is not dead, no massive bills, just time and cursing for such a tiny thing to bring on such a problem.

I have her running again and have taken videos which i will add soon from the mazda menders you tube channel, and do a walk through guide off the back end of it to help others that will hit the same issue at some point, but in the mean time it is a inlet off and clean up properly and will take pics as i go .....

Well she is very hit and miss at the minute, there is still oil sat in her somewhere?? , she did suck up an far bit to be fair, we have fitted a newer zosrt system simply because of the gearbox oil in it,we have also fitted an induction kit from a MK 2/2.5 that just need a bit of re working so it would work with a Mk 1 1.8...a add on hose tail being the most major...

It is frustrating as she is being converted to a manual in summer, but a major warning to anyone with one of these autos MK 1 1.6/1.8 (need to check if the MK 2/2.5 have one also) ....change this diaphragm now, before this happens to you and you end up with big bills, i am lucky as i can deal with this myself, but please understand,,, no matter what a garage says if this fails, you "DO NOT" need a new engine.


Anyway she as been given a set of alloys with new rubber also....

Well we will be saying a heart felt good bye to Mel B because as a project i had not finished her, but they will take her on to finish with my guidance after syd forced me to hand her over, But she will be going to her new owners in a couple of weeks which is Angela and Syd in Runcorn to be something to be enjoyed by Angela mainly who needs an Auto,but i bet there will be some strong words shared about who is driving her.
It will not be the last i see of any of them i am sure, as i continue to stroke Mel B with the menders hands,and i hope she brings every journey a happy one to be remembered...

I also hope they will join the forum and keep this thread up to date on their adventures together..

Enjoy her and look after her..she deserves it...
